3 CONT Obituary Mr C.S. Forbes
3 CONT (Special) Auckland, Dec 10. The death occurred in Auckland
3 CONT recently of Mr Charles Sydney Forbes, second son of Mr Robert
3 CONT Forbes, of Lyttelton, and brother of the former Prime Minister,
3 CONT Mr G.W. Forbes. Born in 1867, he trained as an engineer with
3 CONT Scott Brothers, and after electrical experience in Australia at
3 CONT the Coolgardie mines, he returned to New Zealand. He supervised
3 CONT early electric tramway installations in Wellington and Dunedin, and
3 CONT later he farmed on the Cheviot estate near the home of his brother.
3 CONT He married Eileen Hart, younger dauer of Mrs M.B.Hart of Christchurh,
3 CONT and is survived by his widow and two children - Mr Brennan Forbes,
3 CONT and Mrs Kenneth Wilkin, both of Auckland.
