2 CONC also rector of Stowting. Richard Alleyne, his son, rector of St Mildred's Canterbury, 1637-1654.
2 CONC Richard Alleyn was instituted to the Rectory of Stowting 6 May1605. He possessed lands in the
2 CONC Maner of East Greenwich which belonged to his great-grandfather, as well as other property,
2 CONC as shown by the following deeds:

In the Close Rolls of 2 Charles I (1627) (Part 24) is a deed of bargain and sale of lands
2 CONC in Hundlebie, Lincolnshire, held in fee simple by Richard Alleyn of Stowting, Doctor of
2 CONC Divinity, and sold by him to Timothy Allen the elder, merchant of Dublin, Ireland, and
2 CONC Timothy Allen the younger, his son and heir. The two Timothys are sometimes called Allen,
2 CONC sometimes Alleyn. There is a full description of the property, and the purchase price was
2 CONC 800 pounds.

Indenture made the 20 June 1643 between Abell Aleyn, Citizen and Haberdasher of London, of
2 CONC the one part, and Richard Alleyn, Doctor of Divinity and Rector of the Parish Church of
2 CONC Stowting, Kent, and Abell Alleyne his sonne, of the other part, Witnesseth that in
2 CONC conderation of 250 pounds Sterling and for divers other good causes him thereunto specially
2 CONC moving, Abell Alleyn grants and conveys and sells to Richard Alleyn and Abell his sonne, all
2 CONC the freehold messuage with appurtenances in the Parish of St.Martin in Stamford Baron,
2 CONC Northants, now in the tenure or occupationof lady Frances Wingfield or her assignes, together
2 CONC with the Dovecott, barnes, stables, etc., and all those 7 acres of arable land in the fields
2 CONC of Stamford baron, and all that close of pastures are in the occupation of William Crane, or
2 CONC his assignes, and all hedrows, Woods, Trees, etc., and all other lands and premises of Abell
2 CONC Alleyn lately purchased to him and his heires, of William Alleyn, late of Stamford, in the
2 CONC countie of Lincolne, Gentleman, and all reversions and remainders, and all deeds and
2 CONC evidences, to have and to hold to Richard Alleyn and Abell his sonne and to their heires
2 CONC and assignes forever, to the only use and behoffe of Richard Alleyn and Abel Alleyn.

1 NOTE The Will of Richard Alleyn, clerk, Dr. in Divinity and Rector of the parish of Stowting, is
2 CONC dated 21 April 1650. To be buried in the chancel next to my children lying there. Poor 40s.
2 CONC To Christian, my wife, a bed and one third linen. Ann my daugeter, wife of George Lawe 10
2 CONC pounds. Reynold, my son, whom God hath blessed with abundance of temporal goods far beyond
2 CONC my abilitie to apportion 50 pounds plate. 100 pounds to Margt. my daughter, wife of William
2 CONC Culpepper, to be paid to Sir Cheyne C. (Culpepper) and Dr Steed 200 pounds, I have secured
2 CONC by lands to them. My son Abell 10 pounds. To Allyn Culpepper, son of my dau. Margt. 10 pounds.
2 CONC 4 servants 10s each. All residue to Richard Alleyn, my son and sole Executor. 50s to the
2 CONC poor of the parish of St. Mildred's and St. Margt. Castle in Canterbury. Christian, daughter
2 CONC of my son Abell, a calf.
2 CONC Codicil 22 May 1650. Proved 16 March 1651 by Richard Allen (52 Bowyer.) (this last date
