1 NOTE Robert II de Beauchamp. For the aid to marry the King's daughter in 1166, he certified that he held of the King in chief seventeen knights' fees, all of the old feoffment (that is, made before the death of Henry I), of which seven were held of
2 CONC him by Hugh de Valletort, eight by William de Monasteriis, Ralph Fitz Uchard, Simon Fitz Robert, Robert Germain, Lucas Herhorn, and a boy three years old named Philip of Dorset - one by each and two held by himself in demesne. He was Sheriff of
2 CONC Dorset and Somerset as early as 9 Henry II and again from 22nd to 29th of the same reign (1183).
