He built a large house on Milton Hill, Mass. which was afterwards demolished.
Just behind the house is a rising ground commanding a view of the ocean. This has been laid out in building lots and named Alleyne Terrace. Imbedded over the door in the rear of the house is a canon ball.
The house sold several times and finally bought by the Metropolitan Park Commission in 1906. The Colonial Dames leased it for an indefinite period, using it as a museum and calling it "The Dorothy Q. House", because it had belonged to the Quincy family at one time.
Pasted on the back of a picture of the Dorothy Q. House in the possession of
Miss Edith Doane BEck, 40 Hawthorne Road, Brookline, Mass. in 1930 was the following
from a Braintree Newspaper of Dec. 8, 1787:
The Mansion House and Out-Houses together with as much land adjoining the same as will
bring the sum of 1,614.0.0. pounds it having been the property of Mrs Mary Alleyne, late
of Braintree, widow, deceased, at her death and lying in the North of Parish of
Braintree adjoining to the estate formerly belonging to Mr. Burland. The fertility of the
soil, its contiguousness to salt water, together with its beautiful situation for a
gentleman's Country Seat, it is presumed will be sufficient inducement for many
purchasers to attend the sale which will be at the Dwelling House on the premises.
Administrators with the will annexed. Signed: Abel Alleyne, Jeremiah S Boies. By order

I Mary Alleyne late of Barbados but now residing in Braintree, County of Suffolk,
Province of Massachusetts. Debts and funeral expenses to be paid. To be buried in plain
and frugal manner. To son John Alleyne 20 pounds. Son Timothy Henry Peers Alleyne 20
pounds. To daughter Jane Isabella Winston (Winslow) pair of silver candle sticks and
snuffers. To daughters Benjamina Woodbridge Alleyne all wearing apparell, etc. Half
of furniture and chinaware and Negro girl Patience, and right to live in house while
she is unmarried, and suit of mourning. To daughter Abel Dudley Holder wrought silver
cup and cover. To daughter Isabella Elizabeth Clarke my wrought silver coffee pot and
wrought silver chest. To grandson Abel Alleyne the son of my son Thomas Alleyne 150
pounds at age of 21 years. All gilt plate consisting of large cup and cover, one large
salver,two smaller salvers and two canns, also negro boy Hannibal. Suit of mourning.
To grand-daughter Sarah Hannah Clarke, the daughter of Isabella Elizabeth Clarke 150
pounds at age of 18 years. Also gold watch and diamond ring that has her Grandfather's
hair set under it and her mother's picture. Suite of mourning. To son Thomas Alleyne
all that farm which I purchased of James Brandford (Bradford) Esq. which lays in
Braintree with all the stock of every kind and sort on it with all utensils etc. and
all estate and interest both real and personal in New England or Barbados or any part
of the world. Som Thomas Alleyne sole executor. 3 June 1775. Signed Mary Alleyne.

Abel Alleyne of Braintree, Co. Suffolk, mass; Gentleman, and Jeremiah Smith Boies of
Milton, Co. Suffolk, Mass.,Gent., Administrators of estate of Mrs Mary Alleyne late of
Braintree. Widow. Sold by order of the Seupreme Judicial Court dated 1 Wed. Dec. 1787,
authorising them to sell as much of said Mary's estate as will amount to 1,614 pounds
for purpose of paying her debts. Sold Jan. 29, 1788 at public Auction at Mansion House

At a special meeting of the Congregation of Whitsunday, after divine service in the afternoon May 30, 1773. Voted "That ground sufficient for building a tomb under the south side of the new part of the church be appropriated and assigned together with said tomb to Mrs Mary Alleyne her heirs and assigns forever."
