1st Bart. Succeeded to his father's estates at the early age of six years, and being chosen into the Assembly for St. Andrew's in 1757, he aquired distinction and so strongly recommended himself, by his indefatigable attendance, as from thenceforth to secure an annual re-election. He was created a Baronet 6 Apr 1769.
