Nb. Minor in 1213 and 1222, adult 1227. Lord of Dunster, Somerset; Justice of Common Pleas; Chief Justice of Forests South of the Trent. He was a minor at the time of his father's death. His wardship was granted in 1213 to Henry FitzCount, and on
Henry's death in 122 to William Briwere, his own grandfather. He had livery by 1227, when he was made a knight. He accompanied the king on his French expedition in 1230, and to Wales in 1231. He was in debt to the Jews in 1234, and made a
Justice of the Common Pleas. In 1242 he was to have two good ships provided for him to follow the king across the sea to Gascony, and in April of that year was appointed Chief Justice of the Forests South of the Trent. He served in the
expedition into Wales in 1245, and in 1246 refounded the abbey of Newenham at Axminster. He was a benefactor of the houses of Bruton, Barlinch, and Cleeve, In 1252 he was appointed keeper of the royal forests South of Trent, with 100 marks p.a.
for maintenance, and keeper during pleasure of Sauvey Castle, co. Leicester. In 1253 he had grants of free warren at Dunster, Whichford and Ottery, and license to hunt hare, fox, cat, and badger in Somerset and one other county. He died 20 Jan
1257/8 at Tor Mohun in Devon and was buried at Newenham in front of the high altar on the left-hand side.

Nb. She survived her husband for many years and 54 Henry III sued for the recovery of lands at Parkham in Sadborough, Devon, part of the property which her father had inherited from the Fleming family. In the same year she sued the Prior of
Frithelstoke for land in Bileston, alleging that her husband had demised it to the Priory during her coverture, from which if may be presumed that she claimed it as part of her dowry.
