SourceNb. He was witness to the will of Edward Prince of London and Barbados, dated 11 Mar 1690.
Proved 1691 (Vere 193). B.M.H.S. Journal, Vol XIII. From this it can be assumed
that he was born not much later than 1670.
Clerk at St. Michael's Vestry, as shown by their Minutes of 8 May 1704 and 30 Aug 1705.

SourceNb. Her family came to Barbados at an early date and the name of John Curtis is among the
persons recorded in the Memoirs of the First Settlement of Barbados who held 10 acres
or over in 1638. In Philip Lea's map of Barbados date 1685, the Pollard and Curtys
estates are shown adjacet to each other in the St. Philip parish.

SourceNb. He was given a warrant by the Governor of Barbados to practise as a surveyor of lands,
'he having satisfied William Webster, the Surveyor General, of his proficiency,
10 March 1732'. In June of the same year, Thomas Curtis Pollard, (at the request of the
vestry of the parish and by virtue of his Excellency's warrant), made an accurate
survey of the old St. Michael church yard and from thence discovered considerable
encroachment to have been made within the old bounds; the particulars of which are
shown by this certificate. (The 1st Survey was made in 1658 (B.M.H.S. Journal Vol. XX,
p.34).

Abstract:- The money I have out, to be immediately collected to pay my debts and the
balance to be put out at interest together with the money which shall accrue from the
sale of a chaise and gelding and all my shop medicines and such interest money with
my negro labour and the profits of my land shall be applied to maintain my children.
To my wife 2 slaves and To my son James my land and buildings to be given him when my
two youngest daughters attain 21 or marry. To my son James and daughters Rebecca,
Elizabeth, Mary and Sarah, certain slaves equally. My wife to be executrix. Dated
15 Feb 1767. Robt. Jeff Pollard. Proved 27 March 1767.
