1 CONT Edmund was a mining engineer and was 'lured' to Australia because of the
1 CONC gold. He was 18 when he came to Australia. He worked on diggings at such
1 CONC places as Avoca, Campbells Creek, Ballarat, Clunes, Creswick, and finally
1 CONC Daylesford, where he became shareholder and a leagal and mining manager
1 CONC of the Crown Quartz Mining Co. At a young age he developed miners'
1 CONC complaint. He had made a great deal of money with the goldmine in
1 CONC Daylesford (with the Rodda's), sold up his shares and purchased land from
1 CONC Mr. Wheeler at Musk Creek. He employed Italians to clear his land which
1 CONC ws so dense that one could not see the sky. During this time he would
1 CONC spend many hours each day in trenches dug in the virgin soil, the purpose
1 CONC being to breathe in the clean air. These efforts cured him of his lung
1 CONC problems and he was to live to the age of 78 years. In thankfulness to
1 CONC God, the Trembath's donated a plot of ground on which a little wooden
1 CONC Methodist Church was opened onthe 31st of March 1869. The church served
1 CONC as a place of worship until 1960, when it was sold for removal.

1 CONC Goldfields. It is possibly in a journal format. Two descendents of his
1 CONC have mentioned this written document (Joan Delbridge Lehman and Ken
1 CONC Trembath). Ken notes that he has just come into possession of a copy of
1 CONC the journal. He says that he has been told the original copy is in
