1 CONT Edmund went to school at Musk, Creek, near Daylesford, and then his
1 CONT early working life was spent farming at Thorpdale and Seymour. He
1 CONT joined the A.I.F. and participated in the First World War, in the
1 CONT 22nd Battalion, on March 1915. He served in Egypt, Gallipoli and
1 CONT France. While on convalescent leave he met and married Emmie
1 CONT STEPHENS, of Haymoor near Penzance, Cornwall, in December 1917.
1 CONT Edmund returned to Cornwall after the War and then brought his
1 CONT family to Thorpdale, at part of the family farm, where he remained
1 CONT until the great depression forced him to sell the farm, and with
1 CONT other members of the family, contracted for the building of the road
1 CONT for the Narracan Shire. He was living at this time in Trafalgar. He
1 CONT had two Clydesdale horses, named Diamond and Bill, a scoop and a
1 CONT dray and helped with forming most of the Thorpdale South Road and
1 CONT part of the Road from Thorpdale to Thorpdale South. He then went
1 CONT down to Yarragon with other family members to work on
1 CONT the Cloverleogh road construction. In 1932, he started work with the
1 CONT Electricity Supply Commission where he remained until his
1 CONT retirement. In 1952 he bought the family home in Ann Street,
1 CONT Morwell, and lived out his life in that city.
