1 CONT Harold would have started school at Warragul, finishing at Thorpdale
1 CONT and learning farming procedure with his father until he joined the
1 CONT A.I.F., serving overseas, in World War 1. While on leave from the
1 CONT armed forces, he and his brothers, Edmund and Benjamin, visited the
1 CONT RODDA family smithery on Main St, Penzance. He took particular
1 CONT notice of the way black-smithing was done `English fashion'. He
1 CONT followed that profession for some time after returning to Thorpdale.
1 CONT Harold and Alice spent most of their lives farming at Thorpdale and
1 CONT then at Bethanga, in the Talgorno district. In later life Harold
1 CONT took up fencing contracting in the developing La Trobe Valley,
1 CONT residing then at Morwell. He eventually retired to Murrumbeena, where
1 CONT he remained until the rest of his life.
