1 CONT Edith was born at the first farm on the No. 1 Road, about one and a
1 CONT half miles from the town of Warragul. Her youngest years were spent
1 CONT both there and at Ellinbank and her schooling was at the Thorpdale
1 CONT School No. 2699, after her parents came to live in the house called
1 CONT `Hazelton' (an original RODDA home), on RODDA's Rd. (now called
1 CONT Kelly's Lane). Edith and Reginald were married in the garden of the
1 CONT RODDA homestead `HAZELTON'. After the death of their eldest son, as
1 CONT well as the depression, Edith joined the Postal Department, taking
1 CONT the Management of the Thorpdale Post Office, a position she held
1 CONT over 20 years. She later took on another position with the Post
1 CONT Master General Department, that of relieving officer in the
1 CONT district. It was at Yinnar that she met George McFARLANE, whom she
1 CONT married.
