1 CONT Reginald and Edith were married in the garden of the RODDA homestead
1 CONT `HAZELTON', located on the corner of the Thorpdale South Road and
1 CONT Rodda's Lane. Reginald earned the Military Medal as an ANZAC of the
1 CONT Gallipoli landing, in the First World War. Their first home was a
1 CONT farm at Narracan East. Their first 2 children were born at this
1 CONT residence, and after the birth of Lindsay, during springtime, with a
1 CONT beautiful crop of potatoes almost ready for digging, when all the
1 CONT crop was destroyed overnight by blight. A whole year's work had been
1 CONT lost. Something had to be done for the family to survive, so a home
1 CONT was procured on the Thorpy South Road, not far from town. Their 3rd
1 CONT son was born while at this residence. Reginald took up a position as
1 CONT driver-carrier for the RODDA's firm. It was an original `Cream Run'
1 CONT in true country style, it delivered messages, bread and groceries as
1 CONT well as a full postage round to the outlying farm properties.
